f5networks.f5_modules.bigip_provision_async module – Manage BIG-IP module provisioning
Note
This module is part of the f5networks.f5_modules collection (version 1.25.0).
You might already have this collection installed if you are using the ansible
package.
It is not included in ansible-core
.
To check whether it is installed, run ansible-galaxy collection list
.
To install it, use: ansible-galaxy collection install f5networks.f5\_modules
.
To use it in a playbook, specify: f5networks.f5_modules.bigip_provision_async
.
New in f5networks.f5_modules 1.25.0
Synopsis
Manages BIG-IP module provisioning. This module will perform provisioning operations in an asynchronous way. See the Notes section for more information.

The amount of time in seconds to wait for provisioning process to finish. The accepted value range is between If the device needs to restart the module, then it will return with no change and an appropriate message. In such cases, you must pause the playbook execution, until the device is ready (see the Default: |
Notes
Note
Checking for provisioning status with the
check_status
parameter is not idempotent (see theEXAMPLES
section). The module allows the same provisioning operations as bigip_provision with the difference being that it will not wait through the service restarts or device reboots. This is to fix the edge cases, when using this module in certain environments that can cause a timeout or be stuck in infinite loops, despite the provisioning operation being successful.
Use the module in conjunction with the
bigip_wait
module, for best results. This module requires TMOS version of 15.x and above.
For more information on using Ansible to manage F5 Networks devices see https://www.ansible.com/integrations/networks/f5.
Requires BIG-IP software version >= 12.
The F5 modules only manipulate the running configuration of the F5 product. To ensure that BIG-IP specific configuration persists to disk, be sure to include at least one task that uses the f5networks.f5_modules.bigip_config module to save the running configuration. Refer to the module’s documentation for the correct usage of the module to save your running configuration.
